BEKZADIAN, ALEXANDER (Shushi
1881 – 1937) Educated Kiev. Social Democrat from 1901, siding with the
Bolsheviks. Member of Baku Committee 1904–5. In Europe 1906–14; took
part in a Bolshevik conference in Paris in 1911 under the leadership
of Lenin. Member of the Bolshevik delegation at the Basle congress,
1912. Returned to the Caucasus in 1915. Engaged in party work after
1917; member of the illegal Transcaucasian district party committee
1919–20. In Moscow at signing of treaty of Moscow, 16 March 1921, but
did not sign it. Member of Revkom that declared Armenia Soviet in
November 1920. Foreign minister of the Armenian SSR 1920–1.
